The simple life

Sometimes the days that best resonate with my soul, are those spent bantering in a backyard whilst enjoying authentic homemade food and drink.

I’m not sure if it’s my European roots (growing up watching my parents and grandparents making the most of life’s simple pleasures) or if it’s my love of all things real (including people) but either way it makes me happy…

Sunday past, we were invited to a friends’ parents house to enjoy the best of homemade; homemade wood-fired pizza, homemade wine, homemade limoncello, homemade bread… but what made this backyard gathering so special wasn’t the time, care or pride taken into making each and every item, but the genuine warmth and giving nature, served with a healthy dose of humour (and the occasional sing & dance) by her parents and nonna that made me not only miss my own grandparents but the times we prioritised the simple life.

The below snaps were taken after slowly coming out of my “food coma”…
