When I was ten years old, my mother was pregnant with my youngest sister. Her pregnancy was not an easy one and by doctors orders was bed bound for six months. With only so much daytime TV to watch and romance novels to read, she picked up my grandmothers knitting needles and started to wind wool between her fingers and needles with such speed, sheets of material were eventually produced. After completing a baby blanket within days, she asked if I wanted a jumper….my response was a very excited “YES! – a really long one in Pink please!” That morning I just so happened to be watching Olivia Newton John on TV, and of course, she was wearing a pink tunic, with tight/leggings and leg warmers. This became my winter uniform. 20 years on, my love for bright tunics is still alive… I’m just thankful leg warmers are no longer my thing.
