New York Bites

I’m headed back home to Singapore today, so I thought over the next week I might re-cap some of my fave places and things to do in New York.

I’m such a huge food fan (my mum was a chef) so I thought I’d start with some of the great places I’ve eaten at over the last 2 weeks…

The Mercer Kitchen (Brunch /Lunch) – Great Informal Café with exposed brick walls & dark wood furniture.  Stop in whilst shopping in the SOHO area. 147 Mercer St New York

Bar at Pastis & what we ordered

Pastis (lunch)  – Cute French bistro located in meat packing district serving beautifully fresh ‘provincial style’  food and great house cocktails. 9Ninth Avenue New York.

The Frying Pan Waterfront Restaurant (Weekend Lunch) – This is a casual self-service lunch spot & bar in Chelsea on a restored floating lighthouse once used by the Coast Guard. Pier 66a & West 26th St New York.

Gramercy Tavern – 42 East 20th St (Dinner) A romantic, seasonally driven dining experience. Try the tasting Menu at this 1 star Michelin Restaurant.

Sushi Samba is a fun dining experience with a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine & music.  245 park avenue south New York or  87 seventh avenue south New York,

Buddakan – Flashy and filled with beautiful people. Buddakan offers amazing modern Asian Cuisine. 75 9th Ave New York.

El Rio Grande – Fun cocktails & Mexican food with an outdoor patio.  160 East 38th Street Yew York.

Grimaldi’s Pizzeria – Coal Brick Oven Pizza’s. Expect lines; however you will get in faster with groups of 3 or 4. Located under the Brooklyn Bridge, 1 Foot Bridge, Brooklyn, New York.

The Spotted Pig – Uber-cool yet relaxed Gastro-pub (expect to wait for food) – Also a 1 Star Michelin Star Restaurant. 314 W. 11th Street @ Greenwich St New York

Need Something Sweet ?

Donut Plant – Must try donuts!!! The Crème Brulee, Vanilla Bean (Yeasted), Chocolate (Yeasted).

Magnolia Bakery – There are a few dotted around Manhattan the original is on 401 Bleecker St New York.

Sprinkles Cupcakes  – 780 Lexington Avenue New York (Between 60th & 61st Street) Near Bloomingdale’s. The best Red Velvet I have ever had! The Black & White is awesome too.
